The CEO of Wells Fargo appeared before a Congressional committee this week. This pack of Democrats tried to grill a major bank over assumed “abuses.” But it looked like the liberals didn’t have their homework ready.
Hilariously bad Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tried to torch the CEO. It… didn’t go well.
Thanks to Democrats winning back the House in 2018, unhinged maniacs are now in positions of power. We said that elections had consequences. Perhaps none as worse as Maxine Waters having any shred of authority.
This delusional, unprofessional, and most-likely corrupt woman is on the House Financial Services Committee Hearing. That’s the last place she should be. She launched a hearing against Wells Fargo, major bank that many of you probably use.
The entire episode was just a charade. Democrats were fishing for dirt in order to punish a major bank (and all its customers). But it did not go over well. Newbie congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was a member of the committee. Despite being new to Congress and have literally no experience, this moron was allowed to grill the CEO.
But it appears she was not in the least bit prepared.
Ocasio-Cortez used her time during the hearing to push her political agenda against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and against the fossil fuel industry.
“Why was the bank involved in the caging of children and financing the caging of children to begin with?” Ocasio-Cortez asked.
“I don’t know how to answer that question because we weren’t,” Sloan responded.
“Uh, so in finan–, you’ve, you were financing, involved in debt financing in CoreCivic and GEO group, correct?” Ocasio-Cortez responded.
“For a period of time, we were involved in financing one of the firms, we are not anymore,” Sloan responded. “I’m not familiar with the specific assertion you are making, we were not involved in that.” [Source: Daily Wire]
This is what happens when you put Democrats in charge. They claim they are the only ones able to hold big banks and businesses accountable. The do no such thing. Instead, Democrats abuse their power for their own benefit. If anything comes out of this hearing, it will be more heavy regulation that punishes banks and the millions of people who use them.
Yet the inexperienced and ignorant AOC doesn’t even get this angle. Instead, she tried to ambush Sloan with wild and idiotic attacks. She didn’t have any evidence to back her claims. She tried to use emotional manipulation to trap the CEO. It didn’t work at all.
Growing frustrated, Ocasio-Cortez talked over Sloan as he finished answering her question, asking, “How about, uh, the cleans up from the leaks of the Dakota Access pipeline?”
“I’m not aware of the leaks associated with the Dakota Access pipeline that you’re describing,” Sloan responded.
“So, hypothetically, if there was a leak from the Dakota Access pipeline, why shouldn’t Wells Fargo pay for the clean up of it since it paid for the construction of the pipeline itself?”
“Because we don’t operate the pipeline, we provide financing to the company that’s operating the pipeline,” Sloan answered. [Source: Daily Wire]
Once again, AOC proves she lacks a basic understanding of how our economy works. The woman thought Wells Fargo should fix a problem it has nothing to do with. She though because they provided financing, they were running the project.
Duh, they weren’t. That’s what banks do—they finance. They don’t run other businesses.
AOC sounds utterly uninformed. Yet she makes wild demands as if she has some shred of credibility. All she’s done is prove she is completely unqualified to sit in that chair.
She sounds like an angry teenager, who wants to sit with the grownups, but it way out of her depth.
This woman got elected by pandering to Hispanic voters, promising the abolition of ICE. But she has no idea how to be a leader. All she can do is throw around accusations and bogus statements. When pressed to show real leadership skills, she is left lacking in a big way.
I’m no fan of big banks, but I’ll take Wells Fargo’s side any day against this sad excuse for a congresswoman.
