Republican Congress Mark Meadows said his Democratic colleagues are scrambling to find anything criminal to take down President Trump.
They have nothing after the Mueller report fully exonerated him, Meadows claimed. He said they are in “pure desperation.”
“Mueller report will be public, AG Barr going above and beyond to expedite it, WH won’t review before, and Mueller even helping. Yet Chairman Nadler and Democrats still complain. It smells of pure desperation. They’re determined to prop up the collusion delusion—anyway they can,” Meadows said in a tweet.
The Washington Examiner reports:
Following Attorney General William Barr submitting a four-page letter to Congress summarizing Mueller’s findings, including finding no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, some congressional Republicans have started pointing fingers at the Democrats for peddling the Russia collusion allegations without sufficient evidence to make the assertions.
During a campaign rally in Michigan on Thursday, President Trump similarly criticized those who backed the Mueller investigation and those who peddled allegations of Russian collusion.
The president said Attorney General William Barr’s summary of the final Mueller report was a “total exoneration” that exposed an “elaborate hoax” by a “group of major losers,” “crooked journalists,” and “the deep state,” the Washington Examiner also reports.
Trump told the Michigan crowd that Democrats and others acted together in what he called “the single greatest hoax in the history of politics in our country.”
“After three years of lies and smears and slander, the Russia hoax is finally dead. The collusion delusion is over,” Trump said during the rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
“Total exoneration, complete vindication. It’s interesting,” Trump continued. “Robert Mueller was a god to the Democrats, was a god to them, until he said there was no collusion, and they don’t like him so much right now.”
