Former Spy Chief Sounds Alarm On ‘Red Flags’ In Russia Probe

The Trump/Russia probe continues, and it looks like it’s heating up.

In fact, it should have been clear that things were going wrong from the beginning.

Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell recently told “Sunday Morning Futures” that “red flags” were numerous in the highly touted Russia investigation.

As he said in the exclusive interview:

The Russian investigation had all sorts of red flags from the beginning and when you look at the transcripts, when you look at the declassified footnotes from some of the investigations, it’s clear that there were multiple people from multiple agencies that were raising red flags.

Furthermore, Grenell added that those red flags were “pushed aside and never shown to the public.”

As a result, there has been very little transparency on the issue — something Grenell says America demands, and Washington D.C. remains “very uncomfortable with.”

Why is it so important there were red flags so early on?

Well, ust before leaving as Director, Grenell declassified a fresh batch of Russia probe documents.

These documents include transcripts of phone calls between then-incoming National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in December 2016.

The transcripts remained under wraps until Grenell got House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to declassify them last month.

Grenell also managed to give the American public over 6,000 pages of transcripts from the House Intelligence Committee’s lengthy Russia investigation.

Some of these transcripts proved intriguing. For instance, some revealed top Obama officials admitted they saw “no empirical evidence” to support a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia.

However, it has been an uphill battle for Grenell.

The red flags remained hidden for far too long in his estimation. And he also said “more than just a few” people involved have used their “political bias to manipulate the process.”

Grenell believes the public should’ve been aware of all this, and at a much sooner date.

At the same time, many Americans have called for more transparency out of Washington. And citizens want transparency on the Russia probe, perhaps above all other issues.

Key Takeaways:

  • Former spy boss Richard Grenell claims there were numerous “red flags” in the Russia investigation.
  • Grenell also says these red flags were “pushed aside” for too long, due to both political bias and a lack of transparency.
  • The recently released transcripts have proven informative. This includes Obama-era officials saying they saw “no evidence” of Trump/Russia collusion for the 2016 campaign.
