Last night was the much-awaited debate between Vice President Mike Pence and Kamala Harris. Comments on the debate have been pouring in—as spectators weigh in on how the candidates performed. But it’s clear the vice president won the night—especially after a particularly critical moment. As Harris continued to spout non-truths about Joe Biden’s tax plan, Pence dropped a bomb on her.
Should we have really been surprised that Mike Pence would utterly crush the wannabe leader Kamala Harris? The California senator has largely coasted throughout her political career—rarely facing any real challenges at all. Thanks to the toxic identity politics of her home state, we’re not even sure she’s had to answer a legitimate question… ever.
It was abundantly clear that she was hoping to play the female card all night long, when up against a real leader like Mike Pence. The vice president has a proven record, both as Indiana’s governor and now as second in command. He’s helped craft life-saving legislation and has battled the COVID panic since day one.
Harris… is a lady. Not quite an even match-up.
But during the debate, she tried to pull a fast one over the American people. Pushing a line invented by Joe Biden, she claimed he wouldn’t raise taxes on anyone earning less than $400,000 a year. But Pence proved that was totally false. When Kamala tried to worm out of answering, he set the record straight.
Harris said she wanted the debate to be “based on fact and truth”—an apparent hit at Pence—and added that Biden “will not raise taxes on anybody who makes less than $400,000 a year.”
Pence chimed in, “He (Biden) said he’s gonna repeal the Trump tax cuts.”
“Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking,” Harris said, staring at Pence. “I’m speaking,” she added, staring at the VP again.
“Well,” Pence retorted, “be important if you said the truth.”
The California senator then stated exactly what she said earlier, without elaborating on Pence’s push-back: “Joe Biden will not raise taxes on anyone that does not make less than $400,000 a year.”
Later into the debate, Pence continued to hit Harris using her “own set of facts,” pushing back on the senator’s claim that a Biden administration would not ban fracking.
“You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts,” he said to Harris. [Source: Daily Wire]
Mike Pence won the night with that simple line. Harris tried to (if you can believe it) bully the vice president—while at the same time refusing to answer simple questions about her own ticket’s plan. She claimed Biden wouldn’t raise taxes for the average household. But yet the Democrat admitted he’d repeal Trump’s 2017 tax cuts bill—which means most Americans will see their taxes increase.
Instead of answering Pence’s assertion on these facts, Harris keeps pushing the same line, most likely spoon-fed to her from the campaign. She couldn’t argue with the vice president because, in the end, she had no real facts that helped her case.
It’s painfully obvious that Harris has never had to defend her position once in her career. She has only run against lightweights in CA—not a true fighter and leader like Mike Pence. The Democrat though she would be backed by the leftist moderator and not be required to own up to her flagrant lies and doubletalk.
But Pence is no lightweight. And he was not about to go easy on this far-left candidate who, with Joe Biden, wants to drag Americans back into the Dark Ages.
Harris was woefully unprepared for the fight—and it showed.
