Trump Puts Democrats In Their Place After Outrageous Trial Demands

Legal experts have racked their brains over the unusual spectacle happening in D.C. Despite the fact Donald Trump is no longer in office, Democrats continue this impeachment charade. Many have explained the Constitution does not allow Congress to impeach or convict a president who is no longer in power. Yet Democrats, drive my either madness or hate, continue along.

We already know how this will end. Forty-five Republican senators already voted against having a trial in the first place. It is unlikely they, or the rest of the party, will be convinced to convict Trump after everything is said and done. Don’t forget that House Democrats failed to conduct an investigation over their impeachment article—which means they don’t have legitimate evidence to prove their accusation against Trump.

Perhaps that’s why they made a last-ditch effort, demanding Trump himself testify during the trial. Maybe they hoped Trump would say or do something that would incriminate him. But it looks like the former president isn’t taking the bait.

Attorneys for the former president fired back on Thursday following Lead Impeachment Manager Rep. Jamie Raskin’s letter calling for Trump to testify before or during the trial.

“We are in receipt of your latest public relations stunt,” Trump attorneys Bruce Castor and David Schoen wrote to Rep. Raskin. “As you certainly know, there is no such thing as a negative inference in this unconstitutional proceeding,” they added. “Your letter only confirms what is known to everyone: you cannot prove your allegations against the 45th President of the United States, who is now a private citizen. The use of our Constitution to bring a purported impeachment proceeding is much too serious to try to play these games.” [Source: Just the News]

Democrats are grasping at straws. They got what they wanted out of the 2020 election. Yet they continue to act like Trump is an existential threat to human society. How many Americans really back the Democrats’ pointless impeachment scheme? How many Americans are looking at Congress right now, thinking just how petty and pathetic it looks?

They even dared to claim that Trump’s refusal to appear at the trial “supports a strong adverse inference regarding [his] actions” on January 6. Really? Now they claim that someone refusing to appear at a trial proves their guilt? Whatever happened to pleading the 5th Amendment? It seems Democrats want every last trace of our Constitution torn to shreds, so they can do what they want to their enemies.

It’s sad, really. Americans continue to struggle with the fallout of the pandemic and lockdowns. Yet Congress wastes time trying to kick Trump, who is now a private citizen, removed from their swamp. What good would impeaching him do now?

Nothing will stop him from acting as a private citizen to forward a conservative agenda. He’s already formed an “office” to continue to advocate for his goals. This trial won’t do anything to deter the 75,000,000 who backed him from continuing to back him.

In fact, all of the left’s efforts against Trump only seem to help him.

Do they realize that? I surely doubt it.
