Anti-Trump Republicans Crumble Under Post-Betrayal Pressure

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) is facing new demands for her resignation after her criticism of President Donald Trump. This week, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) slammed the establishment lawmaker. With Roy saying she has “lost her right to be the Republican Conference chairwoman.

Cheney emerged as one of the top outspoken critics of President Trump since Biden’s inauguration. She got even more backlash after breaking with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy during a press conference about if Trump should speak at CPAC.

“That is up to CPAC,” Cheney said. “I’m clear about my opinions of Trump and the length to which after January 6 — I don’t think he should have a role in the future of the party.”

Cheney also recently faced an attempt to remove her from her assignments after betraying Trump for his “role” in the January 6 demonstrations. House Republicans ended up voting to not punish her.
