Joe Biden once promised to be a moderate leader who could bring red and blue America together. Yeah, that was a pretty funny joke. Not once in the few months he’s been in office has Sleepy Joe bothered to compromise or cooperate with conservatives. In fact, he’s not even trying to work with moderate Democrats, pushing only the most radical policies imaginable.
Biden demanded Congress pass strict gun control that only commies would approve of. But we all know that gun control will not get passed in our divided Senate. So, this week, Biden signed orders directing the Department of Justice to essentially overstep its boundaries to pass rules restricting the Second Amendment.
The DOJ will be tasked with finding a way to ban pistol braces and the sale of “ghost guns.” Biden also ordered them to craft rules for “red flag” laws, among other things.
And his lackey, Jen Psaki, has said this is only the beginning. Already, multiple states are saying they will not have it.
“Biden is threatening our 2nd Amendment rights. He just announced a new liberal power grab to take away our guns,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) wrote on Twitter. “We will NOT allow this in TX. It’s time to get legislation making TX a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary State passed and to my desk for signing.”
Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy (R) said that Biden’s actions “won’t save lives or stop criminals,” and would only “disarm law abiding citizens.”…
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) highlighted the portion of the Second Amendment that states “shall not be infringed,” writing: “Biden claims that his actions won’t infringe on the 2nd Amendment. That’s false.” [Source: Daily Wire]
It’s not only them. Idaho’s governor announced his state will oppose Biden’s attempt to “strip law-abiding Americans” of their rights. The governor of Wyoming echoed that sentiment, saying he opposes “any orders or actions” from the Feds that “infringe on this fundamental right.”
Biden has certainly misplayed his hand with this executive order. By targeting lesser-known elements of gun ownership—pistol braces and ghost guns—he missed his chance to limit actual gun ownership. But he did succeed in sparking backlash from the states, who will use this opportunity to shore up their own gun laws.
Had Biden bothered to work with Congress, it would have been much harder for state leaders to fight back. But a flimsy order to the DOJ isn’t enough to stop states from passing their own legislation to protect gun rights—or even launch lawsuits to undermine Biden’s power to pass gun control on his own.
But, let’s be honest, when have Democrats done anything in a smart, logical way? Biden’s entire administration thus far has been one big knee-jerk reaction to Trump. His staff lack vision, insight, or even a trace of leadership skills.
All Biden succeeded in doing is making sure states defend and protect the Second Amendment from his attacks.
