Why are Democrats so afraid of confronting wannabe icon Ilhan Omar? The relatively new “Democratic socialist” in the House has very little clout. Time and again, she has insulted the United States, dismissed the lives lost on 9/11, and expressed an obvious anti-Semitic view. Yet Democrats, including those in the House, have refused to call her out on her radical and anti-American attitudes.
Are they simply afraid of opposing a woman of color, who is also a Muslim immigrant? I guess she checks nearly every box on the left’s minority pyramid of “victimhood.” If she were also gay, she’d be running the party by now.
But that doesn’t excuse her very clear hatred toward a country that has welcomed her—even given her a role in government. Recently, she compared the United States to terrorist groups Hama and the Taliban—accusing our country of “crimes against humanity.” Those are no small words. When it came time for an appropriate response from her party, only sixteen Democrats were willing to say anything.
House Democrats released a statement on Wednesday night condemning Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-NY) for comparing the United States and Israel to an Islamic terrorist organization. Only 12 Democrats condemned Omar, which is less than 6% of the total number of Democrats in the House of Representatives…
“Equating the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided,” they wrote. “Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and contemptible organizations that engage in terrorism at best discredits one’s intended argument and at worst reflects deep-seated prejudice.” [Source: Daily Wire]
These Democrats ended their statement by urging Omar to “clarify her words.” They should have demanded her to take them back. While their response was mostly appropriate and accurate—why did only a fraction of House Democrats send it? Where was Nancy Pelosi, the supposed leader of the party? Where were other notable liberal representatives, whose job it is to correct wayward party members?
If a well-known Republican had said something like this, nearly every House Republican would have condemned them. Before the week was out, they would have demanded an apology to the entire country.
But Democrats apparently can’t rebuke one of their own, because she is a black woman.
How pathetic is that? We have a Democrat who appears openly opposed to our values and very existence. She had so much hatred against the U.S., that she compares the country to evil terrorist groups who go out of their way to kill innocent lives. Omar even accused America of the most heinous of charges, crimes against humanity.
Not once has she appeared to show any shred of patriotism or respect for her adopted home. If the United States is so bad, why did she work so hard to get here? And why did she bother to become a politician and run for public office? If she really thinks America is so evil, why not go to Canada instead?
The fact that Democrats refuse to deal with this un-American, un-patriotic member proves just how morally bankrupt they’ve become.
