After Disinformation Board Fails, NYS Goes After Free Speech

The country celebrated the news that Biden’s attempt to crush the First Amendment had failed. The DHS’s so-called Disinformation Governance Board was put on “pause,” as the partisan writer who was to chair it resigned. Biden never explained what this board would do, leaving Americans to assume it was going to silence free speech.

But we knew it wouldn’t take long before Democrats found a new way to violate our rights. Now, New York State—blaming the recent shooting—is forming its own anti-free speech agenda itself. Because it will use the power of the police to go after “hate speech.”

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) on Wednesday announced plans to create a police unit designed to, in part, combat “hate speech” in the wake of the tragic shooting in Buffalo, promising to “confront this epidemic head-on.”

“We’re proposing a comprehensive plan to combat domestic terrorism, strengthen state gun laws, & investigate social media platforms promoting violent extremism,” Hochul announced Wednesday.

As we all know, anyone who questions the 2020 Election is considered a dangerous “insurrectionist” by the left. That means they are not far from branding any conservative as a “violent extremist.” What will New York State do if a Trump supporter decides to voice his opinion on Facebook or Twitter? Will they arrest him for simply disagreeing with Democrats?

What constitutes “violent extremism”? Social platforms already have rules to take down content they consider could incite violence or harm. Why does Hochul think it’s the job of the government to police speech online?

We know there are already a variety of tools in place for law enforcement to prevent mass shootings. In fact, the criminal behind the Buffalo shooting was known by law enforcement. Had they actually utilized the resources already at their disposal, they could have stopped this event (to say nothing of arm law-abiding citizens).

Yet we know what this is really about. Hochul does not care about stopping the next mass shooter. She simply wants an excuse to police speech online. She wants to find conservatives and critics of her regime and stamp them out.

And it won’t certainly end with New York State. This governor will try to abuse her power to root out any speech posted online. We know Democrats have tried to hunt down and expose conservatives, regardless of where they live. Do you really think this will be limited to New York residents? Hochul will try to get the FBI involved, to go after anyone she and her cronies dislike.

Unless this measure is struck down before it starts, there will be no end.
