Freedom Caucus Prepares Showdown With GOP Leaders Mike Johnson and John Thune

Doesn’t it feel like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are still running Congress? The inaction of Congress this go-around has been a huge disappointment so far. What are the Republican-led House and Senate doing? The GOP has been handed a historic opportunity to implement President Donald Trump’s America First agenda. They’re completely failing. Fortunately, the House Freedom Caucus is ready to try to break the logjam. The caucus met on Tuesday and laid out a bold plan to try to codify many of President Trump’s policies into law.

President Trump has had a stunning string of victories in his second term. (So much winning!) Yet the president has been forced to implement most of his policies through executive orders. The only things that the House and Senate accomplished in 12 months were the One Big Beautiful Bill and a measly $8 billion DOGE cut.

Much of what President Trump has accomplished can be undone with the stroke of the Auto-Pen if a brainless Democrat ends up in the White House again.

The House Freedom Caucus is keenly aware of this, and they’re hoping to do something about it. They have 31 members currently, and that’s more than enough votes to disrupt Speaker Mike Johnson’s desire to maintain the status quo. Following the tragic death of Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) this week, Republicans have a 218 to 213 House majority, with four vacant seats.

The caucus not only plans to force the Senate to pass the SAVE Act, which would require proof of citizenship to vote in our elections. They’re also pushing for mandatory voter ID, paper ballots, banning mail-in voting, and limiting the outlandish early voting that only benefits Democrats. (The Tuesday meeting was closed-door, so we’re not sure how they plan to force this action in the do-nothing Senate.)

President Trump agrees completely:

Trump’s right

“The SAVE America Act” must pass

One can’t oppose it without undermining the integrity of our elections & subjecting them to foreign interference https://t.co/6mX0Z3j7ix pic.twitter.com/xYgUvhHiTc

The Freedom Caucus wants to cut or at least freeze federal spending. It’s been five years since Joe Biden and Congress went on their drunken-sailor COVID spending spree. Why can’t Congress go back to pre-pandemic spending levels?

Right now, Senate Republicans want to supercharge the funding for refugee resettlement with another $5.7 billion of your tax dollars. Way to read the room, guys! Just what we need! Why don’t we just bring the entire population of Somalia to the US, so we can have more of those great daycares and home healthcare businesses?

Even with Republicans in charge of the House and Senate, the Freedom Caucus notes that Democrats are being allowed to clog the budget bills with earmarks.

Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) slipped in an earmark for a $1 million grant for the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice’s Legal Services for Crime Prevention and Family Stability. That’s a group that provides legal services to illegal aliens battling their deportation orders.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) slipped a million-dollar earmark into the Appropriations bill for the Somali “Justice Empowerment Initiative” in Minnesota.

After everything that President Trump has done for America in the past year, Republicans in Congress are allowing Democrats to continue funding DEI programs, transgender programs, and global warming nonsense. Even Bill Gates has finally admitted that global warming has been fake all along. John Thune and Mike Johnson must not have received the memo.

The Freedom Caucus is also going to push for a moratorium on all immigration into the US. Enough is enough. Until the mass deportations are completed, the housing market is stabilized, and we have full employment for American college grads, we don’t need any additional immigrants for any reason.

Good grief, two illegal alien truck drivers (from California) were arrested just this week. They were hauling a load of cocaine from Joplin, Missouri, to Richmond, Indiana. The American people are sick of the invasion and we just want our country back. Yet the House and Senate leadership are content to let the invasion continue.

Those are just a few of the biggest items the Freedom Caucus is planning to push as we get closer to the next government shutdown. It should get interesting over the next few weeks. The appropriations bills have to be passed by the end of this month, after they were delayed by the last Democrat shutdown.

We elected Republican majorities in the House and Senate because we wanted President Trump’s agenda codified into law. It’s time for Congress to start working for the American people!
