We’ve all heard the phrase “slippery slope is a fallacy” about ten thousand times from the same people who spent the last decade telling us that drag queen story hour was “just reading books” and that nobody was coming for your kids. Well, a biological father in Utah who now calls himself “Rose” just kidnapped his own 10-year-old son, smuggled him through three countries, and landed in communist Cuba to get the boy castrated.
But sure, we’re the crazy ones for being concerned. Totally normal parenting stuff. Nothing to see here, folks!
Here’s what happened. Rose Inessa-Ethington, age 42 — a man who decided he was a woman — told the boy’s mother he was taking the kids on a little camping trip to Canada. Wholesome, right? Roasting marshmallows, sleeping under the stars. Except “Rose” and his partner Blue Inessa-Ethington (age 32, and yes, these are the names they chose for themselves) skipped the campground entirely. They flew from Canada to Mexico City. Then from Mexico City to Havana, Cuba.
You know — the classic camping route. Utah to Canada to Mexico to a communist island nation. Who among us hasn’t taken that detour?
The boy’s real mother figured out something was wrong when her son didn’t come home on April 3rd as planned. She contacted authorities, and thank God she did. When investigators searched the Inessa-Ethington residence back in Utah, they found to-do lists. Not “buy bug spray” and “pack the tent” kind of lists. These lists included gems like “learn Spanish,” “get haircuts,” and — here’s the kicker — “empty USU bank.” They also found handwritten notes with detailed instructions on how to obtain gender-reassignment surgery for a child.
They planned this. They researched it. They emptied their bank accounts for it. This wasn’t some spur-of-the-moment road trip gone sideways. This was a premeditated kidnapping operation to mutilate a 10-year-old boy in a country where American courts couldn’t stop them.
Pop quiz: Why Cuba? Because Cuba is one of the few places on Earth where you can walk in with a child, pay cash, and get irreversible surgery done without pesky things like parental consent from both parents, legal oversight, or basic medical ethics. It’s a communist paradise where the government will happily slice up your kid as long as the money clears.
On April 13th — ten days after the boy was supposed to be back with his mom — a Utah court granted the mother exclusive custody. On April 16th, Cuban law enforcement located the group and the child was secured. The FBI then arrested both Rose and Blue Inessa-Ethington on federal charges of international parental kidnapping and aiding and abetting.
The boy is safe. He’s back with his mother. And the two adults who tried to drag him to a foreign country for surgery he can never undo are sitting in federal custody where they belong.
Now here’s the part that should make every parent in America pay attention. Under the Biden administration — the same DOJ that was busy building 900-page dossiers on grandmothers who pray outside abortion clinics — do we really think they would have lifted a finger to stop this? Biden’s DOJ couldn’t even define what a woman was. You think they were going to send agents to Cuba to rescue a boy from “gender-affirming care”? They would’ve called it a “family matter” and looked the other way while a child was permanently disfigured.
But elections have consequences. President Trump’s DOJ and FBI didn’t hesitate. They tracked the family across international borders, coordinated with Cuban authorities, recovered the child, and arrested the suspects. That’s what a functioning justice system looks like when the people running it actually believe that protecting children is more important than protecting an ideology.
We spent years being told we were bigots for saying this stuff would happen. “Nobody is transitioning children!” they screamed. “It’s just puberty blockers!” they insisted. “You’re fearmongering!” they wailed.
A father literally fled to a communist dictatorship to surgically alter his elementary-school-aged son. The to-do list was in his kitchen drawer.
This is what ideology without guardrails looks like. This is where “affirm everything, question nothing” leads — to a plane ticket to Havana and a surgery table for a kid who still has baby teeth.
Thank God for a DOJ that still knows right from wrong. And thank God that little boy is home.
